Sony to launch Wi-Fi-toting Cyber-shot cameras

January 9, 2009 by Insider Staff · Leave a Comment

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G3 Sony has just announced that the next generation of its Cyber-shot cameras will have Wi-Fi inside. Great news for those of you who like to instantly upload any pics you take to Facebook for your thousands of “Friends” (we’re just jealous – we’ve only got two) to see.

Sony’s CEO Sir Howard Stringer announced the development at CES, stating that the first Sony snapper to be packed with the Wi-Fi gubbinry is the Cyber-shot DSC-G3. Spec-wise, it’ll have a 10.1-megapixel sensor, 4GB of storage and a 4x optical zoom. But it’s undoubtedly the instant uploading that’s the star of this particular show, not least because it’ll make our job a whole lot easier when we’re reporting out and about in the field (you know how dangerous the gadget war zone is)!

Sony also announced that it’s partnering up with AT&T in the US to provide camera access to all of its hotspots, and we’re hoping that BT will do the same thing for its Openzone here in the UK. The sooner this gets up and running, the sooner we can get the latest gadget news to you. That or upload stupid pics of ourselves to Facebook gurning like a middle-aged darts player who’s just hit a treble one.
