We were more than a bit narked to hear that RIM’s BlackBerry power emailers weren’t lined up for Flash support along with most other smartphone platforms earlier this year, but now we know why the Canadian company wasn’t on Adobe’s list: it’s prepping BlackBerry Flash support itself!

Nokia not dropping Symbian

Nokia has come fast out of the blocks today to crush chatter that it’s ditching Symbian in favour of newbie OS, Maemo. Yesterday a Nokia source was caught slating Symbian for being “too cumbersome” and not up to the job of battling with Apple and Google Android.

Symbian to launch Horizon!

Symbian phones have been rocking extra apps for years. But as Apple streaks ahead, with 1.5 billion apps shifted since last year, the Symbian Foundation has decided enough is enough. They’re launching Horizon, a new centralised place for getting everything from tip calculators to augmented reality gubbins onto myriad app stores found on Symbian–toting phones.

Asus’s mobile phone may have turned out to be a bit of a fail, but another computer maker may be about to enter the smartphone market to steal Palm’s buzz: Dell, and it may ditch plain old Windows Mobile for Google’s open source operating system, Android, according to rumours.
