Virgin Media 50MB broadband: fit for a Queen

Slow download speeds? They get on our nerves! We want to be able to get our movies down in a snap. That’s why Virgin Media need to be given a hefty slap on the back for releasing its 50MB service – capable of downloading movies in mere minutes!
The service comes bundled with a rather sexy-looking N-wireless router (we never thought we’d be saying that about a modem) that’s capable of downloading a 1GB DVD-quality movie in just three minutes, albums in mere seconds and boasts latency times of DSL – great news for gamers! If that’s not enough for you, then consider this: it’s good enough for Her Majesty. Virgin Media has been supplying the Queen with the service for a while now. Ans if it’s good enough for HRH, then it’s good enough for us.
That’s not the end of it though. Virgin Media is also hard at work on a 100MB service to blow all other ISPs out the water. Imagine that. Movies downloaded from your computer and on your telly before you’ve even finished your business in the toilet.
Virgin Media’s 50MB service is available right now to 1.5million homes across the UK. It costs from £35 a month and by the end of December it’ll have reached 40 per cent of Virgin’s network, and by the middle of next year all 12.5million customers will be able to subscribe. Now that’s fast – a bit like its Broadband speeds, no?
