Apple MacBook White gets updated
January 22, 2009 by Insider Staff · 1 Comment
In a move to appease Apple fans across the country, the big A has announced that the company will be releasing the updated plastic MacBook in good, old Blighty after all.
We can almost imagine hundreds of Apple fans camping outside the Apple Store on Regents Street in a Kaka-style protest complaining about the non-update. Luckily, those crazy fan boys won’t get the chance because it is coming to the UK, but at a price.
The updated spec includes a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, double the previous amount of memory (that’s 2GB), and a 120GB hard drive. Apple has also included an NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics chip, which means the laptop will be able to run the new version of OS X – Snow Leopard – to its full capabilities. You see, NVIDIA graphics will support Apple’s upcoming OpenCL tech, making jobs that other graphics cards find difficult, a breeze!
As we said, all this spanking new tech comes at a price. £719 to be exact. That’s a £15 increase! Considering this is the second price update to occur since Apple announced its new aluminium MacBooks, we’re starting to see where Apple made all those Q1 profits!
