Acer Aspire One D250 gets official!
April 1, 2009 by Insider Staff · Leave a Comment
The Acer Aspire One D250 is the latest in a long line of manbag-sized laptops that have been released recently. Asus with its Eee PC range has been looking to dominate the market for some time now, but the likes of Acer haven’t given up, with the Aspire One D250 just the latest weapon in its armoury.
Because there are so many netbooks being chucked at us nowadays, they need something to help them stand out. Well the Acer Aspire One D250’s USP is its impossibly lithe body, measuring a pencil-thin 2.5cm at its thickest point!
On the inside it’s business as usual, with an Atom processor, optional 3G, up to 2GB RAM and a 160GB hard drive. It also has that 10.1-inch screen. Any bigger than that and it wouldn’t be able to call itself a netbook.
As you can see from the image it’s pretty good to look at too, Maybe not the Hollywood looks of the latest Eee PCs, but it’s certainly no Paul Scholes. So when’s it out? Well, it’s already on the shelves in Germany. But you can expect it out over here shortly, for the reasonable price of £350. Das ist gut, ja?

There was a time when all laptops cost well over a grand, but that was back when they were seen purely as business tools or toys for the affluent. Now, it seems you only need to turn to such a price point when you want your notebook to feature something extra, such as a Blu-ray player, a High-Definition screen or just the best gaming abilities in the business. …continue reading Laptop group test (£800+)

Budget Sony Vaio hell-bent on style
April 3, 2008 by Insider Staff · Leave a Comment
The new Sony Vaio VGN-NR21M/S straddles the world of wee ultra portable notebooks and jumbo desktop replacements, but to rise above the middle class laptop slop it’s got to have that X-Factor.
Its achingly affordable sub £500 price tag could easily be the clincher but this Vaio oozes bucket-loads of slimline style, flaunting soft rounded edges and a fetching dimpled silver veneer to catch the eye.
