Sumvision Emergo III review
April 17, 2009 by Insider Staff
If we had to liken the Sumvision Emergo III to a film we’d probably have to say Superman III. We’re interested enough to take a look, but there’s probably not enough there to hold our interest. Plus they both start with Su and both end with III. So is it super, man? Read on…
Pros
Okay, let’s see. The frame itself, if not much to look at, is fairly sizeable at eight inches. It has support for SD, MMC, MS and XD memory cards and can be viewed in both landscape and portrait. It can also cope with movie and music playback, even if the built-in speakers aren’t really worth writing home about… even on email!
Cons
It looks horrible. Okay it costs under £50, but that doesn’t mean it has to look like the Swamp Thing’s derriere! Also picture quality is average, with images not looking as sharp as some more expensive models. Plus, where’s the Wi-Fi? Okay, the memory card support makes it easy transferring files, but we’d like to at least have the option of wireless transfer.
In summary then…
There’s too much amiss with the Sumvision Emergo III to recommend it. Okay it’s cheap, but that’s reflected in the looks. It feels and appears more plastic than Joan Rivers’ face. Next up, the images. They’re just not sharp enough for our standards. And perhaps the biggest faux-pas in this wireless age: the omission of Wi-Fi. In its defence, it does support a variety of memory cards. But that’s about the only defence we can give it.
