T-Mobile + Huwaei = second Android phone
April 6, 2009 by Insider Staff
It didn’t take T-Mobile long to get over the fact that Vodafone got the follow-up to the G1, the HTC Magic. Like Lazarus rising up from the dead (okay, that might be overstating it a bit), T-Mobile has dusted itself off and declared that it will continue to produce Android phones with a new mobile phone from Chinese manufacturer Huawei up next.
T-Mobile made no secret of its interest in Huawei’s device at Mobile World Congress in February, but now a spokesperson for Huawei has said: “”I can confirm that Huawei will be releasing the third Google phone on T-Mobile this year.” They’ve even released a few specifications for the handset: It’ll have a five-megapixel camera, 3G, Wi-Fi and a built-in headphone jack.
With Android devices set to flood the market this year, T-Mobile is pitching the Huawei handset as a low-cost handset. A smart move given the current financial climate. It has currently be slotted in for a July 2009 release. As soon as we get more details, you guys will be the first to know. Because that’s Huawei we do it! Sorry.
