Hercules Dualpix HD review
April 10, 2009 by Insider Staff
It’s tough to go up against the giants of the webcam world like Logitech and Microsoft, but they don’t call it Hercules for nothing. Find out why the Hercules Dualpix HD can mix it with the big boys in our review.
Pros
For what you pay (Shop around and you can bag it for under £30), the Hercules Dualpix HD is great little mover, with decent image quality (1280×960 at 30 frames per second no less) and surprisingly clear pictures with the lights dimmed. And in a nice, user friendly touch, there’s one button converting of videos to email and even iPod friendly file formats.
Cons
Other than the Logitech QuickCam Sphere AF, this is the worst webcam on test for laptop users, build wise. It pretends to clip on to little lids, but it won’t really – it’ll just hang loose like bad 90s slang. One for the home only, homies.
In summary then…
We won’t skirt the issue. The Hercules Dualpix HD lacks the snazzy features of the other webcams on test. No CCTV set up, no 1600×1200 video recording. But for the skinny pricetag, the Hercules Dualpix HD does a great deal. Want a cheap solution for your desktop? This is it, so snaffle one up while you can.
