Boston Acoustics Horizon Duo-i review
September 28, 2009 by Insider Staff
This compact speaker dock also features an AM/FM radio and offers some unusual customisation options. Find out more after the jump.
Pros
The Duo-i is a compact and robust unit, finished in a nice rubbery coating that feels like it’d be impossible to scratch or mark. Users can add an individualist touch by replacing the standard speaker grilles with a range of different colours. Sound quality, whether you’re listening to your iPod or the built-in FM radio, is strong: the solid build reduces distortion and helps deliver a big, beefy performance.
Cons
While it’s always nice to have an AM/FM radio tuner, we’d have preferred to see DAB supported here, for access to more stations. That aside, there’s little to quibble about.
In summary then…
Boston’s solid and sturdy little speaker dock adds some extra value by including an AM/FM radio tuner, and the fact that you can switch out the grey speaker grilles for different colours will appeal to some. But it’s the performance that’s most important, and luckily that’s a strong point for the Duo-i – it delivers a far bigger, bolder sound than its small dimensions suggest.
