Philips Go Gear Spark launched
March 5, 2009 by Insider Staff
Philips has unveiled a new MP3 player designed to take on the entry-level end of the market. The Go Gear Spark is a square-shaped gizmo measuring a mere 41 x 41 x 15mm, yet boasting up to 8GB of storage – that’s four times more than the iPod shuffle.
There’s also a colour screen (something else Apple doesn’t include on its smallest player), a 128 x 128 OLED that can display album art and users’ photos.
Battery life runs as long as 27 hours, and there’s support for MP3, WMA and JPEG. FM tuners are available on some models too.
The 2GB and 4GB Sparks will launch later this month, with the 8GB model following in May. Prices start at £39.99 for the 2GB, going up to £49.99 for the 4GB and £59.99 for the 8GB. The FM radio versions cost £5 extra.
