Olympus introduces E-620 entry-level DSLR
February 24, 2009 by Insider Staff
Most entry-level digital SLR cameras come rather light on features, but that’s not the case with the latest model from shutterbug legends Olympus. The E-620, announced just before the PMA 2009 camera expo kicks off, packs in some lovely goodies including built-in image stabilization, a pull-out, tilting 2.7-inch Live View LCD screen and 7-point auto focus.
The sensor is a 12.3-megapixel number, and also on board is the company’s TruePic III+ image processor, built-in wireless flash controller (wireless flash not supplied, sadly) and Art Filters, which allow you to enhance your shots by adding effects such as sepia and grain in-camera.
The body itself is compact by DSLR standards (something of an Olympus specialty), and users will be able to enhance it with a forthcoming range of add-ons, including an underwater housing.
The E-620 is due to hit the US in May for around $700 (£480) body only or $800 (£550) supplied with an ED 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 Zuiko zoom lens.
