Ricoh CX1 is a double hot shot
February 19, 2009 by Insider Staff
Budding paparazzi take note: the Ricoh CX1 compact camera is capable of capturing a whopping 120 frames per second. You’d never miss the lucrative celebrity oops moments that our nation’s favourite tabloids are so keen to splash out for!
The Ricoh CX1, you see, features a continuous shooting mode that other cameras can only dream of. Stuffed with the Smooth Imaging Engine IV and a CMOS sensor that enables high-speed image processing, it can capture 120 frames per second at a resolution of 640×480 pixels, or four frames per second at the highest resolution.
That’s not the only trick up the Ricoh CX1’s considerable sleeves, though. This retro-looking snapper also has something called DynamicRange Double Shot Mode. What that means in layman’s terms is the camera effectively takes two shots at once, each with different exposures, then combines the best bits of the two in one “perfect” image. Clever doesn’t begin to describe it!
With a 10-megapixel CMOS sensor, a three-inch LCD on the rear and a 7x optical zoom, a all the usual photography modes, the Ricoh CX1 is pretty good value for the £299 price tag, if you ask us. So when’s it out? Try March 13. And with all the Sony Cyber-shot cameras coming out, you’re spoilt for choice!
