Revo Blik RadioStation review

June 25, 2009 by Insider Staff

Revo Blik RadioStationThe Revo Blik RadioStation certainly has distinctive looks, but if there’s anything we’ve learned from Paul Scholes, just because you’re not the best looking in the world, doesn’t mean you aren’t oozing talent. As music streamers go, the Blik is one of the more affordable options, so what do you get for your hard-earned buck? Allow us to inform you…

Pros
This brick-sized, self-contained streamer looks like it’s the result of some sort of LEGO brick and Toblerone triste. That said it also offers a radio triple whammy: DAB and FM tuners, plus web radio access via the same Wi-Fi connection used to stream music. It’s compatible with a wide range of digital music formats (MP3, AAC, WAV, RealMedia, AIFF, AU and WMA) and the wireless connection is as easy to set up as it is to get a kiss and tell story out of a Big Brother contestant’s ex.

Cons
The lightweight, plasticky body means that sound quality isn’t as dynamic and bold as we’d like, and because there’s only one speaker you don’t get a sense of clear stereo separation. You can use the stereo output to hook the RadioStation up to a hi-fi, though, so it’s not all bad on the sound front.

In summary then…
If you want your digital music streaming to come with a bumper side order of radio then the Revo Blik RadioStation should be high on your list. It doesn’t deliver the audiophile sound quality that blokes in Christmas jumpers sporting dodgy Noel Edmonds beards demand, but it can play back a wide range of files, it’s simple to use and setting it up is more simple than your simple cousin, Alan. All of which means you get a hell of a lot of bang for your buck. And that can’t be bad!
