Samsung Blue Earth mobile worships the sun

February 13, 2009 by Insider Staff

Samsung Blue EarthThe Samsung Blue Earth mobile phone is the latest green gadget to be announced. After the Vexia Econav GPS-unit yesterday, this little mobile intends to beat global warming with the power of our solar system’s main star – the sun!

That’s right, Samsung has only gone and stuck a solar panel on the Blue Earth’s back, so it can harness the sun’s rays to power up (a bit like Nuclear Man in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, only much much better).

That’s not the only eco-trick the Blue Earth has up its enviro-friendly sleeve, though. Oh no. This veritable hippy of a phone also has a highly green PCM case, and a built-in pedometer that tells you how much CO2 emissions you have saved by not taking your car. Smug? Not half!

What’s more, Sammy’s only gone and fitted the Blue Earth (anyone else think that sounds like a BBC documentary?) with an economy mode that automatically adjusts your screen brightness, backlight duration and Bluetooth usage.

You’d struggle to find a more eco-friendly gadget than the Samsung Blue Earth. Let’s just hop the dodgy British weather doesn’t effect it too much…
