Toshiba TG01 mobile is a touch smart

Wow, we weren’t expecting the Toshiba TG01 smartphone to be unveiled today, but this really has got the iPhone 3G cowering in the corner of a basement somewhere. Don’t be fooled by the mundane name, this is anything but mundane. Just look at it teasing us with its sexy, lithe body and delicious display. We just want to touch it.

The TG01 is actually slimmer, faster and has a larger screen than the iPhone, packing some really impressive specs into its lissom body. First up, that screen. It’s a 4.1-inch touch display that’s unbelievably user-friendly. Then there’s the 4.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor on the inside that powers this beast. It runs an adapted Windows Mobile 6.1, which Toshiba has tweaked to make it even more amenable to the user.

The Toshiba TG01 also has some pretty nifty features, such as the gesture commands, which allow you to answer of hang up the phone with a mere shake of your wrist. Well, it’s good if you’re not a recovering alcoholic with the shakes.

What else has this masterful phone got? Well, aside from giving it a higher resolution screen, faster processor and slimmer shell than any other smartphone, Toshiba has also packed in GPS, HSDPA, HSUPA, DivX support and Internet Explorer 6 with full Flash compatibility.
