Asus unveils AiGuru SV1 Skype phone

Asus unveils AiGuru SV1 The Asus AiGuru SV1 videophone is definitely marketed at those people who still think that gramophone provides the best audio quality they’ve ever heard and are about as technical as our great aunt. You see, this videophone has no need for a computer, so there’s no worrying about downloading any installing fiddly software.

The Asus AiGuru is a standalone device that houses a friendly seven-inch display, built-in webcam, speaker, microphone and Wi-Fi connectivity! That’s it. The only thing you’ll need is a Skype account, but you can get young Billy to set that up for you. And here’s the kicker, after the initial £219.95 outlay, you’ll start saving money, as calls (video or voice) to other Skye users are free and unlimited!

Of course all this is largely dependent on how many friends you’ve got that use Skype. If the answer’s not many, then you might want to reconsider, but if you live in Australia say and have never seen your new granddaughter, say, then this could be a really affordable way to catch up.
