Acer Ferrari 1200 laptop revving up!

January 30, 2009 by Insider Staff

Acer Ferrari 1200Hear that roar? That’s the sound of the Acer Ferrari 1200 laptop pulling up. Oh yes, the greatest car/computer collaboration of our times is back again with a throbbing laptop to whet our appetites.

The follow up to the Acer Ferrari 1100, the 1200 looks remarkably similar to its predecessor, with a similar 12.1-inch screen. Except this time its using LED backlit technology which consumes less power than traditional displays and therefore will help to reduce CO2 emissions (if only in a small way).

It’s got all the power of a Fezza too, thanks to its AMD Turion X2 Ultra dual-core mobile processor. The 4GB of memore and AMD M780G chipset, meanwhile, ensures that it’s got enough grunt to appease demanding gaming fans.

It’s out in a couple of months with the price still unknown. But what luxurious extras can you expect? Well there’s a SATA hard drive, a slot-load optical drive, Dolby Home Theatre sound, Wi-Fi, and it’s all encased in a luxury carbon-fibre exterior that’s used to make the cars. The only thing you don’t get is a bright red coat with the Prancing Horse on it to show you’re a Ferrari owner. Shame.
