Leyio memory drive shares files through the air
January 22, 2009 by Insider Staff
Her name was Leyio. She was a showgirl! Actually, the Leyio is the name of a new Personal Sharing Device that’s sounding the death knell for the humble USB drive.
You see, the Leyio eliminates the need for wires, computers and pretty much anyting, apart from a flick of your wrist, for transferring your files. Admittedly, this technique only works from Leyio device to Leyio device, but there is a built-in USB stick for “backwards compatibility.”
This really looks and feels like a step into the future. Just shake your pocket-device in the direction of another device, and using the magic of UWB (ultra-wide band) radio connectivity you’ll be able to send and swap files in seconds! A 3MB photo of you gurning will take 0.3 seconds, and a home movie can jump in around 20 seconds. Just don’t expect such quick results with three-hour-long Kevin Costner snore fests.
The Leyio also comes with 16GB Flash storage as standard so there’s plenty of space for carrying your files around. Worried about private files getting nabbed? Never fear, each Leyio has a fingerprint scanner to make it unique to you.
The official launch for the Leyio Personal Sharing Device is this April, with no word on price yet, but one ting’s for sure, the USB stick’s been well and truly updated!
