Toshiba launches Satellite A350 laptop
January 21, 2009 by Insider Staff
Laptops are ten a penny nowadays, and with netbooks muscling in on their territory they need to have an angle. Well, Toshiba has decided to focus on movies, giving the Satellite A350 a 16:9 aspect ratio so you don’t have to put up with black lines when watching your Mamma Mia DVD – although you will have to put upa with Pierce Brosnan’s singing.
While most laptops have an 16:10 screens, the Satelite A350’s 16-inch screen has an aspect ratio of 16:9, allowing your movies to fill the whole screen, just as the directors intended.
Toshiba has also slammed in some integrated Harman kardon speakers, essentially making this an IMAX in your lap. And thanks to the Dolby Sound Room and TruBite technologies, you’ll get booming acoustics to match the crystal clear images on-screen.
So, what’s this got aside from awesome movie-ness? Well, Tosh has stuffed in plenty, including a choice of Core 2 Duo or AMD Turion processors, 4GB of RAM, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, Wi-Fi, optional HDMI connectivity and up to 320GB of storage for all your Kevin Costner flicks (shame on you).
And how much for this movie maestro for your thighs? It’s out now and a mere snip at £529. That’s roughly the equivalent of 40 trips to the IMAX. Just thought you’d like to know…
