Edifier iF500 Luna 5 iPod dock makes a landing

So much for iPod docks being boring. We’ve seen Zeppelin-shaped docks, bucket-shaped docks and now, with the Edifier iF500 Luna 5, we’ve got a big, round, moon-shaped iPod dock.

Looming large on your desk like a lunar eclipse, the Luna 5 hides a five-driver speaker system in its shell, with a 55W power output to provide some thumping tunes. The dock itself lies in front of the full-moon-like speaker and has six touch-sensitive buttons to control your crazy dock.

It doesn’t just control your iPod, though. The Luna 5 also has aux inputs so you can hook up other makes of MP3 player, and a built-in FM radio, so you have a number of ways of listening to Moon River, Man on the Moon, Dark Side of the Moon, Blue Moon, we could go on, but, for the sake of your and our sanity, we’ll stop there.

The Luna 5 costs £199.99 and is out now. So what are you waiting for? IPod docks like this only come along once in a blue moon. Sorry, couldn’t resist that one.
