Archos 10 netbook gets specced

January 15, 2009 by Insider Staff

Archos 10 netbookArchos is better known for its powerful portable media players, but it’s making a move into the laptop market with the Archos 10, the company’s first netbook. Where the number 10 comes from is anyone’s guess, but it’s been priced and dated for a UK release – get full details after the jump.

You can probably guess what’s under the bonnet by now: a 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive, plus a four in one card reader. Those specs are pretty run of the mill as netbooks go – in fact, all Archos has done is rebadge a Hasee machine – but the ten inch shell size is still welcome compared to many smaller 8.9inch models on the shelves, as it means the keyboard is just about big enough to type on for any persons over the age of about 12.

Archos has said it’s expected to topple off the netbook conveyor belt sometime this month, falling into the £349 price barrel, so if you’re looking for a teeny sub-laptop without added squint, this could be what you need.
