The power of Lux
December 31, 2008 by Insider Staff

So what you going to spend all your Christmas money on? What? You’re putting it in the bank? Let’s be honest, banks aren’t what they used to be. Here are five hay-clarse luxury gadgets to invest your money in instead…
Girard-Perregaux Three Gold Bridges watch
It’s time gentlemen. Geddit? Time… watch. Anyway. If you have a smidgeon of Christmas money left over after your initial outlay in the sales, then consider the Three Gold Bridges. It’s a finely crafted wrist watch from 18-carat pink gold. And all for just £89,000. That’s the equivalent of wearing a two-bedroom flat in Nottingham on your wrist. Just more posh.
Jabra JX20 Pura
Bluetooth headsets. That doesn’t scream luxury now, does it. Well, maybe you should take a gander at the Jabra JX20 Pura – it’s pura class. Made from Titanium it’s almost as solid as Wolverine, and it’s infinitely more stylish than the yellow and black leotard-wearing X-man.
Vertu Boucheron 150
The Mobiado 105GMT Gold pushed the Vertu right up to the line to get on our posh list, but just came up short. Why? Well, the Vertu has altogether more gold, and it comes in a case made from the wood of a walnut tree. How many other phones can say that? Oh and it costs around 30 big ones. That’s 30 grand in case you couldn’t work it out.
Leica MP
Want a camera that screams luxury, but isn’t too complicated to actually use. The MP combines luxury with retro looks and appeal. The best bit for old-skool snappers is that it shoots to film – not a digital sensor. Flash this about and you won’t end up looking like Austin Powers or one of those sleezy paps who wait outside clubs for a drunk celebrity to lose her top. A mere snip at £2,500!
Leatherman Charge Del Rey
Ever wondered what a multi-tool made of gold looks like? Introducing the Leatherman Charge Del Rey. It almost seems like a waste to use it to open our beers with. The handle’s crafted from 18-carat gold, with artwork by Adrian Pallaro. But what we were most impressed with was Tim Leatherman’s signature. Oh yes. That explains the £25,000 price tag, anyway.
