Nokia N97’s got talent

December 29, 2008 by Insider Staff

Nokia N97Nokia recently announced plans to release a keyboard-sliding super-phone – the Nokia N97. Well, it’s got more talents than just being able to slide like a dancer on ice. Here we bring you the N97’s top six hidden qualities:

1 Nokia has said that the N97 will feature an all-new, revamped Symbian operating system. This will be a massive jump forward from the software found on the 5800 XpressMusic phone, thanks to the inclusion of widgets on the homescreen. Social networks such as Facebook, MySpace and Friendster are all definites with more to join in…

2 Nozza’s also confirmed that N-Gage will feature. What’s the big deal, you might say. Well, combine this with its touchscreen abilities and the iPhone will be shaking in its 3G boots. OK, so it won’t have a monster games catalogue, but the potential is there. This could be the first step into creating a gaming/comms hybrid par excellence.

3 Movies, movies, movies. Oh yes. This bad boy will be a potent film-viewing machine thanks to its 16:9 superpowers. It’s proper widescreen, too, so no black bars framing your picture. Throw in the massive memory, killer battery life and you’ve got a portable video box that will keep your eyes busy for hours.

4 It’s going to have Social Location functions straight out of the box – making it the first phone to do so. What that means in layman’s terms is that social networks will be able to access your phone’s GPS chips, so you can share your location with friends, see who’s nearby and geo-tag your blog posts wherever and whenever you want. Nifty!

5 Did someone say MASSIVE memory? Oh yes, we did. The N97 packs a whopping 32GB as standard, and with an SD card slot on the side it’ll expand up to 48GB. Makes the iPhone’s 16GB seem a little bit teensy.

6 Flash! Aa-ash. It saved everyone of us… and the N97. Because this bad boy is capable of Flash playback. That means any sites you visit will be displayed perfectly, with embedded clips and animation working fine, oh yes. Full internet on the phone? Easy as pie. And we love pie!
