Hotpoint FF200EP White

December 18, 2008 by Insider Staff

Hotpoint FF200EP The traditional fridge-over-freezer design is the more common and often more practical format that tends to fit better in UK kitchens. And hotpoint doesn’t stray from that with this cool box…

Pros
Hotpoint has made the most of its standard 60cm wide footprint to offer a surprisingly generous net capacity of 285 litres in all – that’s a lot of orange juice! The freezer section is frost-free, so you’ll never get a build-up of ice or seizing of the drawers and its ‘fast freeze’ feature means you can freeze large items like a turkey or a head (of lettuce, why what did you think we were talking about?) within 24 hours. The fridge section has some useful compartments and fittings, like the wine rack, and the whole thing has a holiday setting that will actually save you energy while you’re away. It also has an A rating for energy efficiency that will lower your energy bills in the long run.

Cons
When we say that the external design is very bland, we’re talking boiled chicken bland. There’s no flavour to this whatsoever. No fancy sheeny black design, no cute LCD displays, nothing. Nada. Nowt. There’s not much innovation inside either.

Overall
So often it’s the kitchen itself that dictates the fridge that we buy and a standard 60cm-wide gap means that a fridge-over-freezer design is the only one to go for. Hotpoint has an impressive range of these and this one in particular represents good value for money thanks to its sturdy build quality and sensible internal compartments that maximize its capacity. It’s not exactly the most exciting fridge to look at, but if you’re on a tight budget (and let’s face it, in these hard times who isn’t?) then this is a highly capable and efficient fridge-freezer.
