Motorola to make mobile comeback in 2009
December 17, 2008 by Insider Staff
It’s been a bad year for Motorola. Late in 2007, Samsung overtook the American mobile phone maker to bump it down to third biggest handset seller in the world, and its lacklustre releases this year have done little to change that. ROKR? Is that any different from the RAZR? We don’t remember. But it looks like Motorola’s about to bowl us over with some top notch blowers in 2009 – find out more inside.
Perhaps eager to stir up some anticipation, several supposed images of the company’s 2009 line up have turned up on the internet. Most tantalising of the supposed leaks is the one pictured, the Flash. An angular iPhone killer? Certainly looks like it, and we can’t wait to find out more about it. Two more, the Rush 2 and the Calgary, pack slide out QWERTY keypads and hi-res screens to tangle with the likes of the T-mobile G1. The Inferno meanwhile looks set to replace the RAZR series – it may be fatter, but that external screen on the clamshell will match anything on most candy bar handsets.
Unfortunately, there’s no internal specs for these. Will we see them at the Consumer Electronics Show in January? There’s no confirmation, but we’d have to bet that Moto will want to turn things around as soon as possible. We’ll keep you posted.
