Bosch KGV24V01 White

December 17, 2008 by Insider Staff

Bosch KGV24V01 Bosch is known as much for its power tools as it is for its white goods, so has this fridge freezer got the power to take on the competiion?

Pros
Even though the Bosch conforms to the usual 60cw wide standard for a fridge-over-freezer, it somehow seems bigger – like one of those magic Minis that seems to fit in never-ending numbers of clowns. The shelves are adjustable or removable and all made of strengthened glass. The fridge section has a massive door that can support deep compartments of its own, so four-pint milk cartons are no problem. The freezer section, meanwhile, has just two shelves (no drawers), which rules out sticky-drawer syndrome. The plain polar white finish should ensure that it fits into any kitchen design-wise and like most Bosch products, it feels like it’s built to last. And did we mention it has a Class A rating? No? Well, it does.

Cons
There are no fancy features, like a water chiller, or icemaker here. Drawers for the freezer section would have provided speedier access to frozen goods, too.

Overall
This standard fridge-over-freezer from Bosch ticks all the essential boxes: There’s plenty of capacity in both sections, a quiet motor and single thermostat and an A-rated efficiency certificate. It looks stylish too, in a very neutral way of course. What it doesn’t have, though, are any features to mark it out from the crowd. Instead, build quality is the main attraction for this sturdy unit. This bad boy is built like a tank – a very cold tank!
