Dyson DC22 Baby Allergy

June 26, 2009 by Insider Staff

Dyson DC22 Baby Allergy This is the smallest cylinder cleaner from Mr Dyson and it showcases a new Cyclone system that employs another level of tiny cyclones to draw out even smaller particles from the air flow. But does all that techy speak mean it’s a good vacuum?

Pros
Thanks to the even smaller cyclones, this is the most efficient Dyson so far. The compact size means it’s more easy to store under the stairs than Harry Potter, but it still manages to carry around its various attachments by clipping them to the back. It looks unmistakably Dyson too, like a brightly coloured engine on wheels in fact. All that exposed plastic looks a little vulnerable, don’t worry, the engineers regularly hurl their products down the stars of their rigorous testing facility before rubber stamping the design. It’s lighter and more manoeuverable than previous Dyson cylinder designs too and the head of this latest model is much flatter so it can snuffle underneath rugs and low furniture without you having to lift anything.

Cons
The plastic jug is rather small and if you don’t empty it regularly, the fluff that’s spinning in the cyclone will make it lose suction. And you can’t have that!

Overall
Dyson’s vacuum cleaners swept the floor, so to speak, with the competition when they first arrived and the Baby represents considerable refinement on the Cyclone system. It has not only been shrunk down to a much more convenient size, but it’s more efficient at filtering out the really small stuff too. The bagless system is a particularly appealing feature in such a small machine that could otherwise cost a significant amount in bags each year. We’d still recommend an upright if you have a lot of floor acreage to cover, but for smaller apartments, this tiny Baby has a lot to offer.
