Electrolux Z8800AZ

Electrolux Z8800AZ The new upright vacuum cleaners from Electrolux bring some innovative new features and a brave new design to the range. But are they enough to send the Z8800AZ to the top of the vacuum pile?

Pros
The Electrolux Z8800AZ uses a Dyson-style Cyclonic suction system that’s powered by a 2,000W motor inside a substantial casing of vivid red plastic. Bagless, it uses a plastic container that’s easier to empty than a post-credit crunch Icelandic bank. It comes with even more handy attachments: As well as an arm that sucks dust from the sides, and a wand that reaches cobwebs on the ceiling, there’s a duster for the delicate jobs that itself can be sucked clean. With controls on the handle, it’s easy to use too. The best bit though, is the Power Paw on the side. This powerful sucker can extract the pet hairs from cushions and corners and it tucks right into the body of the machine. Neat.

Cons
It’s quite a bulky design as all of the accessories trundle around with you. This makes it a little heavy, so stairs could be a bit tiring. The bright fire engine red finish isn’t exactly subtle either. But then who wants subtlety while their vacuuming?

Overall
The big Electrolux looks like it’s delivering a lot of vacuum cleaner for your money. The alarming bright red colour might not be to everyone’s taste and it’s certainly bulky, but by having all the attachments clip onto the side of the machine, you have everything you need right with you. It’s certainly powerful enough too, thanks to the Cyclone suction system, and going bagless obviously saves cash on disposable bags. It’s all the genuinely helpful attachments that earn this cleaner its stars though, especially the pet hair chasing Power Paw – it sounds like some sort of superpower for your dog.
