Hotpoint EW74P
June 23, 2009 by Insider Staff
Home appliance master, Hotpoint can always be trusted to bring home the goods when it comes to your daily needs. But what about the Hotpoint EW74P? Are it’s features baked to perfection or a little crusty around the edges? Find out here.
Pros
Hotpoint’s popular EW74P is a standard 600mm design in a neutral white finish so it’ll fit right in to any kitchen. Plus it offers fast cooking times from its fan-assisted main oven and wipe-cleanable convenience from its ceramic hob. The main electric oven packs a powerful fan to distribute the heat and cook evenly. It’s fully programmable too, so you can time it to kick in later in the day. Its smaller fan-less oven allows multi-zone cooking and has an electric grill built in. The hob is lit by its own safety light to let you know when it’s hot, and stays on until the surface has cooled enough to touch, so there should be no more burnt fingers.
Cons
The old-school finish might not be to everyone’s taste and there’s little innovation going on here. Some preset cooking programs or a zone divider for the main oven would have been nice.
Overall
It’s no surprise this is one of the most popular cookers out there. The design couldn’t be more neutral, so it’s not going to clash with any kitchen design and Hotpoint has an enviable reputation for reliability. It looks and feels durable and its easy clean ceramic top makes it practical too. There’s little in the way of next-gen technology incorporated, but the programmable timer adds a little flexibility for busy cooks and the safety light will save a lot of potential accidents.
