Gears Of War 2 gearing up for Christmas carnage

November 5, 2008 by Insider Staff

Gears Of War 2Think every worthwhile videogame on the Xbox 360 comes out on the Playstation 3? Guess again. While a brand new PS3 may be future proof, there’s still a reason to shell out on Microsoft’s older console, as Gears Of War 2 makes brutally clear. Plus, it’s out this Friday! Read on to find out why this is the hottest shooter gearing up for Christmas.

The return of this tactical third-person shooter sees you leading the team underground to take on the Locust in their home turf, and it looks even more jaw-dropping than the original, if that were possible. Xbox LIVE multiplayer also returns, so expect another game from Epic you’ll be playing long after completing single player.

Top talents

Multiplayer mayhem
The original Gears Of War is still one of the most popular games on Xbox LIVE – this will top it, with up to 10 players in a game.

Unreal graphics
Gears Of War 2 boasts improved high-def graphics that put many games on PS3 to shame.

Enormous arsenal
The list of weapons you can use just keeps on swelling – as do the ways you can use them. Use corpses as shields, butt people with your rifle and generally cause even more carnage than in the original.

Going up against
Call Of Duty 4 – Not so many aliens, but just as gripping.

Metal Gear Solid 4 – PS3’s rival third-person exclusive.

Halo 3 – Another Xbox futuristic franchise worth your cash.
