Logitech’s web security cam takes CCTV to the next step

October 14, 2008 by Insider Staff

Digital Video SystemsParanoid that CCTV is making everyone paranoid? You should be: Logitech’s new webcam, the indoor Digital Video Systems, uses your home computer as a security guard, monitoring your rooms and garden for movement.

Digital Video Systems records straight onto your PC from cameras you can stick anywhere around the house thanks to suckers you might be more used to on a bath toy. If itdetects movement, it’ll alert you via email, while the ultra-paranoid can even watch the stream from a remote location. Try to enjoy your holiday though.

Your computer automatically emails you if the cameras spot any motion, to stop pesky burglars and their like.

Going up against
Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 – It may not do security, but when it shoots at 1600×1200 at 30fps, who’s complaining?

4 camera, 12″ quad CCTV kit – The full CCTV shebang, but not on your PC.

Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000 – Cheap and efficient webcam, which won’t take over your entire desk.
