Sony PSP Slim & Lite

One of the sleekest pieces of pocket hardware ever created, Sony PSP smacks of high class. But is this appeal only skin deep? Find out here…
Pros
Far more than just a PlayStation squeezed down to pocket size, the PSP is actually a full-on media maestro capable of wrangling your digital music collection, playing movies (whether UMD or digital), displaying photos and accessing the Internet. It’s still a games machine at heart, of course, and its crisp 4.3-inch screen is the best you’ll find on any handheld console.
Cons
The trouble is that, for a games machine, the PSP is surprisingly low on great games. Aside from several killer titles, there isn’t much in the back catalogue to get frag-happy gamers excited, and the future doesn’t seem to hold any true classics either.
Verdict
As technically brilliantly and well built as it is, the PSP has never really fulfilled its potential as a portable games machine. You can almost count the number of truly great titles on one hand, which means that the media functionality – ostensibly a sideline to the main attraction of gaming – should be a vital consideration for any potential buyer. Are you looking for a top pocket gaming machine or something that’s equally at home showing off a downloaded movie or your latest digital photos? If you fall into the latter camp, the PSP might just be for you.
