HTC’s latest iPhone botherer
September 30, 2008 by Insider Staff
There’s only one handset to beat these days when it comes to mobile phones – Apple’s touchtastic iPhone. HTC has pulled out all the stops to create a touch sensitive stunner that should at the very least give the iPhone a run for its money and may even steal away the odd punter or two thanks to its bulked up spec.
Its face is filled with a large 3.8in screen that stretches to a none too shabby resolution of 480×800 pixels so there are plenty of dots for detail. In addition to Wi-Fi, you also get super fast HSDPA and the camera stretches to a better than iPhone 5 megapixels.
Top talents
High res screen
The iPhone can only offer a puny 320×480 resolution, giving the HTC two and half times more dots to display stuff.
Fast data to go
With HSDPA baked right in, you can surf away at up to 7.2Mbps without a Wi-Fi hotspot in sight.
Mega-megapixel snapper
Apple was probably having a laugh only sticking a 2 megapixel snapper in the iPhone – the HTC has a much more healthy 5 megapixel shooter to play with.
Coming out: October
Going up against
Apple iPhone 8GB – It may not pack quite such a hardware punch, but it’s still the g-whizz phone to beat.
Samsung Omnia i900 – Samsung is hoping to wow you away with its latest touchy feely masterpiece.
Nokia N96 – If you’re prepared to sacrifice a touch screen in favour of better features the N96 is the way to go.
