Get super blacks from Epson’s best projector yet
September 16, 2008 by Insider Staff
As they are throwing light at a wall, it’s no wonder that projectors struggle to produce really black blacks, but Epson’s new EH-TW5000 is its moodiest yet – capable of beaming a super dark image from one side to the room to the other, for the best in big screen action.
Epson rates the EH-TW5000’s dynamic contrast ratio at a staggering 75,000:1 so it can produce sparkling whites and deep dark blacks without a problem. You also don’t lose out on the pixel count in the process, with it capable of spitting out 1,920×1,080 res images for perfect 1080p HD goodness.
Top talents
Blacker blacks
With a 75,000:1 contrast ration it’s simply one of the best 3LCD projectors available, no contest.
Three times a charm
As it packs 3LCDs – one for each primary colour – not only are hues more faithful you also get higher luminance.
High def wonder
The rest of the tech would be wasted if it didn’t support 1080p HD so you can get the highest res image currently available.
Coming out: October
Going up against
Optoma HD700X – If you’re after a high def pixel thrower on a budget, this 720p Optoma is ideal.
InFocus Play Big X10 – For big screen action you can’t beat this 1080p pumping InFocus movie blaster.
Sony Qualia 004 – For the ultimate in home cinema, only the lack of people talking at the back would give away this Sony.
