New iPod Touch 2G thinnest yet

MP3 players have been reduced to the size of postage stamps for some time, but the real challenge now for portable media players is to squeeze a watchable video experience in there as well. Apple honcho Steve Jobs reckons he’s found the answer in the new iPod Touch, which retains the huge screen but shrinks it to even more malnourished proportions at just 8.5mm slim.

The movement free memory was already ideal for listening on the move, but with Nike+ iPod now built-in, there’s never been a better excuse to get your running shoes on. If that’s not enough Apple have even managed to extend the battery by up to half (up to 36 hours of music playback or six hours of video playback). Just be careful not to lose it when turned sideways.
