Lenovo IdeaPad S10 takes on Eee PC

August 12, 2008 by Insider Staff

Lenovo IdeaPad S10The Asus Eee PC has inspired many a competitor to attempt to steal it’s crown as king of the ultra portable laptop computers. Lenovo is the latest to step into the ring with its super stylish IdeaPad S10 – a lean, mean computing machine that promises to give the Eee PC a serious run for its money.

Spec-wise is more than capable of taking on the Eee PC head first. Under the hood you’ll find an energy efficient Intel Atom processor running at 1.6GHz, with two flavours available – a cheaper 512MB RAM, 80GB hard drive model and a top of the range 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive version.

Top talents
Splitting the Atom

Intel designed the Atom chip specifically for this type of device, offering decent oomph despite its low price and power efficient design.

Super screen
Despite being a small, portable machine, it’s still got a decent size 10-inch display so you’ll be able to make out everything on screen.

Flexible friend
In addition to the normal connections you’d expect (Wi-Fi, USB, Bluetooth, Ethernet) you’ll also find an ExpressCard slot for extra expansion.

Coming out: Autumn

Going up against
ASUS EEE PC 1000H – Asus started it all with a 7-inch machine, but this grown-up 10-inch model is more than up to the task of battling any contenders.

HP 2133 Mini-Note – The small laptop scene has attracted all comers, from unknown brands to well know names such as HP with its 2133 Mini-Note.

Sony Vaio VGN-TZ21WN/B – The Atom chip may be good, but it’s no match for Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor as seen in this VIAO, although the Sony will cost you almost three times as much as an Eee PC.
