Sony’s cable-free surround sound

July 4, 2008 by Insider Staff

Sony DAVF200Wraparound audio is great, but the cable clutter it causes can create problems. Unlike most Home Cinema Systems, this Sony can create surround sound from a 2.1 speaker setup.

Add in upscaling duties to make your DVDs look pin sharp and Bravia Sync for controlling compatible TVs and you’ve got the perfect popcorn companion.

With only a subwoofer and two side speakers to site, the Sony DAV-F200 makes for a much tidier lounge side line up.

If you fancy switching from moving pictures to a more musical backdrop you can even plug in a USB memory key or mobile phone for seamless streaming.

Top talents
Small size, big sound

It may only be a 2.1 setup, but it’s capable of pumping out a sofa-shaking 405W of room-filling audio.

Cut the cord
With no rear speaker wires to trip over or run around the room, its simple setup leaves more time for movie watching.

Late license
Switch on the Dialogue Enhancer and you’ll still be able to make out who’s saying what without worrying about loud explosions ruining the mood.
