iRiver puts new Spinn on MP3 players

July 1, 2008 by Insider Staff

iRiver SpinnWith a fancy spinning controller and stunning 3.2-inch AMOLED display, iRiver’s new Spinn MP3 player isn’t short on eye-catching talent. Throw DAB radio and 16GB of storage into the mix and iRiver’s nifty new musical number may well have you singing.

The active matrix display spits out stunning pictures, making video on the go a delight. It’s also super efficient, so you can keep watching for longer. The Spinn gets its name from the funky scroll wheel, which makes track and movies choosing a breeze.

Plus it can pick up the best digital radio has to offer, thanks to its integrated DAB tuner, so you’ll never be stuck for something to listen to. You’ll need to wade through everything you stuff onto its tune-eating 16GB of storage first though.

Top talents
Small screen superstar
point your peepers at this and you’ll be too transfixed by the images to worry what AMOLED stands for (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode).

Spinning around
twiddle the new scroll wheel and you’ll be rolling round the menus faster than you can say ‘next track, please’.

DAB hand
change is as good as a rest, and sometimes it’s nice to break from your playlist and listen to something new once in a while.

Going up against
Archos 705 WiFi 160GB Silver – £299.86 – Taking this player out with you is a bit like packing your own personal cinema thanks to its gigantic 7-inch screen.

iRiver Clix2 8GB Black – £170 – iRiver isn’t averse to its quirky interfaces – with this little looker you simply press on the four sides of the screen to find your way around.

Apple iPod Touch 16GB Black – £211.49 – Like an iPhone but without the phone, expensive monthly contract or the worry a 3G model will be released soon. Frequently mis-called the iTouch.
