How to make your Archos an essential business tool
August 17, 2009 by Insider Staff
So you use your Archos to sit idly on the train listening to music and watching videos do you? Shame on you! You could be getting some work done!
No, we’re not suggesting you pocket your media player and whip out a laptop, you can still get some work done without it ever leaving your hand. How? We’ll show you.
Step 1
Did you know you can view documents on your Archos? It won’t open Microsoft Word files in their native format, but save them as HTML files and bung them on your media player’s internal storage, and they’ll load up a treat in its built-in web browser.
Need to see what other people are working on? Share your documents through Google Docs and you’ll be able to find a Wi-Fi hotspot, settle down with your Archos and tap in to review their changes in its browser.
Step 2
There’s no e-mail application for Archos PMPs yet, but webmail will work just fine. Just tap into the web browser and you’ll be able to access all your messages just like you would on a PC.
Need to send lengthy e-mails? Then you need this neat foldable USB keyboard. It’s an official accessory made by Archos, and just perfect for hard-core messaging on the move.
Step 3
Secure your Archos! With sensitive business data on board, you need to be careful. Download Archos’ selection of Widgets, and you’ll get a ton of useful tools for your handheld, including a calculator, note writer and all-important Safe Password app, to protect your PMP against prying eyes.
Must-have accessories
Web browser – If your Archos was a recent purchase, chances are it already has the web browser plug-in installed. If not, you can grab it from the Archos website. Without it you’ll be unable to read HTML documents, tap into e-mail, or run widgets to secure your handheld.
