Garmin’s mobile map mate
June 25, 2008 by Insider Staff
We all know satnav is the way to go to get you out of a where-am-I? type pickle, but Garmin’s new Nuvi 205W does much more than just show you the way to go home.
Stuffed to bursting with tasty navigation type features, this new little dashboard decoration will have you where you want to be before you even know you want to be there.
The Nuvi 205W not only knows its way around, it’s quick to get its bearings thanks to its HotFix capability, so there’s no need to hang around uncomfortably in dodgy neighbourhoods.
Its 4.3in widescreen display is easy to read – even in direct sunlight – and it’s a chatty little thing too, happy to dish out turn-by-turn voice directions en-route.
Top talents
Help! – If you find yourself in a pickle, just dab at the Where Am I? emergency locator and it’ll let you know your exact latitude and longitude, the nearest address and intersection, plus the closest hospitals, police stations and petrol stations.
HotFix so you can hot foot it – Don’t get stuck waiting for it to try and track down the satellites and get a fix – it’ll make an educated guess where they should be for a super-quick start.
Big picture – With a large screen you won’t ever need to squint, and the wide format provides plenty of space for on screen instructions.
Best price: £169.99 on 25 June 2008
