LG SolarCube four-in-one super cooker
June 10, 2008 by Insider Staff
LG is hoping to make speed cooking more sophisticated than simple microwaving with its quad heat source oven.
So get ready to don your next-gen cooking hat, because this bad boy baker is taking home cuisine to new gastro heights.
The SolarCube tackles foot heating from four angles – grill, microwave, electricity and halogen lamp. The result? Oven fresh food in a quarter of the time.
The combination of the different heat sources mean you won’t end up with that wilted microwave effect and food will stay crispy instead. It can also create three different temperature zones in the oven so you can cook different foods at the same time without having one burn and the other undercooked.
Top talents
Four candles – with four different heat sources on tap, the SolarCube can blitz a leg of lamb in 45 minutes flat and still keep it succulent and juicy.
Get in the zone – now you no longer have to put up with soggy chips and a half cooked pie with the ability to set up specific heat zones inside.
Energy efficient – with its ability to mix and match heat sources, as well as bringing down the amount of time it’s on it can cut its energy consumption by up to half.
Coming out: June

Whirlpool JT 359 Aluminium – It might not be able to stretch to four heat sources, but this microwave can also grill and it’s got a crisping function too, so you don’t end up with sloppy nosh.
Indesit FI21K.B White – If you’re just after a cheap and cheerful heater-upper then you can’t go wrong with this Indesit. It may not pack any whizz bang features, but it’ll still deliver piping hot pizza.
