PSP Minis won’t have Wi-Fi multiplayer

psp-minis.jpgLooking forward to battling your pals wirelessly on your PSPgo? Well, you’ll have to keep it to full-on titles, as Sony says PSP Minis won’t support wireless multiplayer. And what’s more, there won’t be downloadable content either. Keep reading for Sony’s full confession.

PSP Minis were one of the big drawers during Gamescom last month. But it seems Sony omitted some fairly major details. See, it’s just announced that the new mini games, aimed at rivalling the iPhone’s efforts, won’t pack DLC or wire free multiplayer.

According to SCEA’s Justin Cooney, it’s just too much for the PSP Minis to take on board. “When you look at it from a testing perspective, you have to do more QA. [Allowing those features] would defeat the purpose of having a dedicated service for smaller content,” he said to Gamasutra.

Yet with iPhone 3.0 supporting DLC through in–game purchasing and the ability to play over Bluetooth and Wi–Fi, it seems Sony is going to be hamstrung in its battle to beat Apple.
