Asus videophone gets a touchscreen
September 21, 2009 by Insider Staff
The Asus AiGuru SV1T Videophone sounds and looks an awful lot like Asus’s last wacky Skype console for video chatting, but there’s a big new addition to tempt you into slapping down for one of the big ol’ boxes: a touchscreen, to make all the calls you need with a prod.
No more clacking around on the cursed D-pad: the Asus AiGuru SV1T Videophone comes with a 7-inch 800×480 touchscreen this time (Hence the T), so you can scroll through your phone book with your digits.
Specs wise, the Asus AiGuru SV1T Videophone isn’t that much different, with Skype to Skype, SkypeIn and SkypeOut support and Wi-Fi and ethernet hookups, but those finger friendly icons now being pokeable should make all the difference in turning video conferencing on it from a chore to a choice.
The Asus AiGuru SV1T Videophone has just been announced on Asus’s home turf, Taiwan, so there’s no UK release date scheduled yet, but since the last model made it here, expect to see the Asus AiGuru SV1T Videophone saunter through customs eventually.
