May 28, 2008 by Insider Staff

WALL-EDesigned to slot in with the release of the latest Pixar smash movie WALL-E, this cute cyborg doesn’t mind lending a claw to help with the clean up. Built by WowWee, the droid-loving company responsible for Robosapien, Roboraptor and a bunch of other celebrity robots, this WALL-E incarnation promises to be the most popular metal head toy of the 2008.

WALL-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter – Earth-Class) comes from a time in the not too distant future when we’ve wrecked Earth so much we’ve all decamped to another planet and left it to bots to tidy up.

This remote controlled replica packs 10 motors for flexible movement and real world sensors, so it won’t take a tumble thanks to its obstacle, sound and touch detection.

Top talents
Flexible friend – While most toys are one trick wonders, this versatile little fella can interact with the world at large, providing an ever refreshed repertoire.

Motorised mayhem – Packing 10 motors to power various appendages there’s no stopping this guy from going where he wants.

Friendly feedback – WALL-E isn’t just a one-way conversation, built in sensors let him react to the environment rather than just fumbling around like a blind old fool.

Coming out: Summer

Going up against
Robone Roboactor RC Robot Man – He may rely on you to command him via remote control, but at least there’s no risk of him becoming self aware and trying to take over the world.

Robot Bank – This little cyber-helper will keep an eye on your cash for you and also keep a running total of how much you’ve stashed under his watchful eye.

Meccano Spykee Micro – This micro-bot will zip around and keep you company with his cyber chatter. He’s a flexible scooter too, capable of tackling desktops, carpets and even low inclines.
