LG GW620 gets unveiled!
September 14, 2009 by Insider Staff
The LG GW620 may have dropped its fiery codename, but it’s very much real: that LG Android phone we spied last week is out and official. Finally, the Google phone market is beginning to get crowded at last, but can the LG GW620 stand out? Read on and see.
LG’s coughed up and confirmed that the LG GW260 QWERTY landscape slider is real, and headed to “select European markets” this year. Specs-wise, LG’s only told us the LG GW620 will be packing a 3-inch touchscreen, but if it’s the same model as the one on show at IFA, we’d expect at least a 5 megapixel camera too, though HSDPA and Wi-Fi are still up in the air.
Is it enough though? The LG GW620 runs your basic stock Android without any custom skin on top, and with HTC, Motorola and even Sony Ericsson retooling Google’s OS for the social networking crowd, it could end up being quite a bland entry. Still, that keyboard looks a whole lot more useable than the ageing T-Mobile G1’s, so if you’re into QWERTY the LG GW620 could be for you. We’re chasing LG UK for more details right now so keep it locked.
