Cut-price Cool-er eBook by 2010

cool-er1Want to know what next Cool-er e-reader will be packing? How about 3G for over the air downloads, and a full colour screen. All in one gadget. That’s what the company says it’s planning, so read on for the full skinny on what could be the end of paper altogether.

We were the first to tell you that Interead, the company behind the Cool-er, was looking at wireless downloads of books and even a touchscreen earlier this, but the company’s confirmed to us it’s roadmap for next year, and it’s not just Kindle killing, it’s Kindle genocide.

Interead is planning to launch a wireless connected, 3G Cool-er with a colour screen by early next year. The kaleidoscopic screen will be impressive enough if it can pull one off in the Cool-er, but it gets better: it’s looking into making it touchscreen, and cheap too.
That’s a tall order if even Amazon can’t crack a colour screen, but this is a startup that’s come from nowhere to number two in the market behind Sony in the UK in just three months, so it’s got a proven track record of engineering feats.

We’ve yet to confirm when the device will be unveiled, but Interead’s CEO did promise us big things for CES in January, so we’d be very surprised if they weren’t related. Keep it locked for more as it happens.
