Rock Band 3 to be compatible with Natal?
August 24, 2009 by Insider Staff
We’re just weeks away from The Beatles: Rock Band, but developer Harmonix is already setting its sights on Rock Band 3. What’s more, it’s eyeing Microsoft’s upcoming Project Natal motion-sensor with interest and is planning “to pull some things together”. Intrigued? Better read on then.
MTV Games confirmed in a recent interview that Rock Band 3 is already in development – no surprises there – and it’s focussing on what to do with the rhythm game next.
One upcoming console technology has grabbed its attention in particular: “We will keep moving into new areas and look at new technologies that our platform holder partners are also developing, such as Project Natal from Microsoft,“ said MTV Games boss Scott Guthrie.
Guthrie didn’t go into detail about what Project Natal might do for Rock Band 3 – playing along with imaginary instruments would seem a bit farfetched, but it’s possible that the 3D camera tech could be used to put your movements into the game, allowing you to rock out in front of your crowd of virtual spectators.
