Nikon S1000pj projector camera unveiled

August 5, 2009 by Insider Staff

Nikon S1000pjOnly yesterday we heard some rumblings concerning Nikon launching a compact camera with a pico projector stuffed inside. Well, it turns out the rumours were true: a press release has just announced the imminent launch of the Nikon S1000pj, a Coolpix-branded point-and-shoot able to beam a 40-inch image onto your wall!

The projector is powered by LED and can serve up both videos and slideshows accompanied by music, effects and creative transitions. Exciting stuff indeed, but a lot will hinge on the actual quality of the projected image – will it work only in a darkened room, and will the image look bright and vivid or washed-out?

The camera itself has a 12.1-megapixel sensor, 5x wide angle zoom lens with 5-way VR image stabilisation, an ISO range of 64-6400 and a 2.7-inch LCD screen
