Nikon projector camera incoming?
August 3, 2009 by Insider Staff
Nikon is priming a compact camera with a pico projector crammed inside. Dubbed the Nikon VP650, the new snapper is said to be in line for an official unveiling next week, although you’ll need to wait until September to nab one. So what is the VP650? And how will it work? Read on and all will be revealed.
The Nikon VP650 has been chattered about in camera circles for some time. But the projector–packing camera is edging towards reality, with a French photo mag getting all the deets early.
Chasseur D’Image says the Nikon VP650 will indeed be getting outed as soon as next week and will let you spy your pics without having to squint at the peeper’s dinky LCD or shovel them onto your PC. Instead, the in–built pico–projector will serve up 8×12–inch pics onto the wall, as long as your living room lights are switched right off or dimmed to “romantic.”
Apparently Taiwan’s FoxLink has been busying itself with the Nikon VP650 for a while. And the concept certainly makes sense. With compact cameras these days all offering a raft of great, but standard features, one rocking a projector would doubtless clean up and give you the edge in the ongoing battle of gadget one–upmanship with your mates.
