Get Premier League football in HD on Virgin Media

July 30, 2009 by Insider Staff

Virgin MediaWith just two weeks until the monied might of the Premier League kicks off once again, Virgin Media has announced it’s readying a new HD channel, showing such delights as Sir Alex Ferguson going beetroot red when United go one down. When will you be able to give your eyes a treat? Read on and find out.

Virgin Media has tied up a deal with new Premier League provider ESPN to show its package of games from 15 August. The deal includes ESPN’s dedicated HD football channel, which will be available to punters on the Virgin Media XL package, or for an extra tenner a month if not. Football fanatics with Sky Sports on Virgin will need to stump up £8 for the privilege.

The first game on ESPN’s football HD channel will be Everton’s clash with Arsenal on 15 August at 5.30. That means you’ll get to see Arsene Wenger’s men toy with the ball in glorious hi–def, before spurning a host of chances and losing 1-0. Good times.
ESPN got hold of Premier League football after Setanta went belly up last month, after missing its payments to the FA. Business quibblings aside, it means stacks more HD games for you to infuriate the missus with. Result!
